I Love America!

We had a great Fourth of July holiday.  We went to the annual neighborhood celebration complete with boat parade and the awesome fireworks show.  John Bret got up at 5:00 a.m. to set-up the tent near the water and we went back out later that morning to decorate the tent.  Avery had lots of questions about America--does everybody live there?; do we live there?; who chose the flag?' and so on and so on......She just kept saying how much she loves America.  I thought alot about that too.  With all of our country's issues (and we have plenty), who would want to live anywhere else?  I hope everyone thanked God and let him know that they "love America"!!

Beach Bums

We had a great time on our trip to the beach last week.  The weather started out stormy, but ended up being nice for most of our stay.  The double red flags kept us out of the water most of the time, but our last day there was perfect.  John Parker found an intact sand dollar and was thrilled.  He has told everybody about it!  It's nice to have times to get away with the family and enjoy each other's company.

The Big Red Machine

John Parker just finished baseball season.  His team--the Cincinatti Reds--or the "Big Red Machine" as they like to call themselves--came in 1st place with an un-defeated season. John Parker really enjoyed playing this year.  It's the first time that I've seen him so focused and really wanting to learn and do better each game.  They had a fabulous set of coaches, who along the way became family friends.  I hope this is a season that he will always remember.  Go Big Red Machine....World Champions of the World!!
